Harvester gets a new lease of life
In 2003 we purchased a landing craft built Wood and Davidson (Aberdeen)
in the 90's originally built as Elizabeth G, we renamed her Harvester when
she joined our fleet. The name Harvester was important to us due to the number
of Shetlanders' that were employed on the "Southern Harvester" during the
whaling industry, being forced to leave home for up to 2 years at a time
when conditions were much harder.

When we began using her she was a big upgrade for us, however over many
years of hard work she was becoming too small for us, and needed a machinery
refit with modern fuel efficient lower emission engines.

Although she looks similar colours the boat has been extended by 4 meters, and had a complete rebuild.

We would like to thank everyone for a huge amount of hard work, including but not limited to:

  • Our own engineering team:
  • Poleson Marine - Steelwork and engine fitting
  • Keith Robertson - Joinery
  • L&M Engineering - Rewiring
  • H Williamson - Electronics package
  • Malakoff - Shot blast, hot zinc treatment.
  • Jeemie Smith, Angus Graham, and Stuart Balfour (Safety and certification)

Hundreds of hours have gone into this rebuild project, hopefully she can do well for a good few years yet.
